Former President John Mahama says the death of Akenten Appiah Menka should charge Ghanaians with the responsibility to continue the pursuit of constitutionalism.

Eulogizing the fallen legend, the former president described the late Menka as selfless, remembering him for his work on the constitution review committee is commendable.

The post reads: “RIP ‘Uncle’ Akenten Appiah Menka. Remembered for your selfless work on the Constitution Review Committee set up by President Atta Mills. Your death should charge us with the responsibility to move that critical process forward”

The late Appiah Menka served as a Minister of State in the Kofi Abrefa Busia-led administration in the Second Republic.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in a statement signed by acting General Secretary, John Boadu, has directed all party flags to fly at half-mast for seven (7) days as a mark of respect in honor of his memory.

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Mion, Mohammed Abdul-Aziz also described the late Menka on Joy News TV’s AM Show, as a national asset although he “doesn’t agree with him politically”.
